I am having trouble with transferring a domain name i just brought into my hosting account.?
Ok, so i just purchased a new domain name from go-daddy.
I already have a hosting account with host-gator, so i just changed both the name servers to my own.
Then i went through hostgator and went through add-on domains.
Now this was all successful, and i even installed wordpress on the domain.
However, when trying to access my domain through its URL, it still comes up with go-daddy stuff.
Once i even managed to log into my WordPress account (with the /wp-admin/ extension) but after I clicked on add page, it all of a sudden went back to godaddy?
I dont know what i have done wrong, any help would be greatly appreaciated.
Thank you in advance
James

Hi James,
It sounds like you did everything correctly. Still, you might want to check GoDaddy and make sure the name servers are correct.
Generally it takes a few hours to a day for the domain name to “propagate” through all of the name servers.
The problem is most likely your Internet Service Provider’s name servers have not been updated with your domain information yet.
My experience with GoDaddy, Hostgator, and AT&T is a couple of hours to one day.
Hang in there, you should be up soon.

Juicy Hosting or HostGator?
I’m having trouble deciding whether I should get hosting at Juicy Hosting or HostGator?
I plan on purchasing my domain from GoDaddy then transferring it to one of the hosting sites.
Something I don’t like about HostGator is that lowest priced plan only allows one domain while JuiceHosting can do 3 and I might want to purchase another domain within the coming months.

I registered for the domain at Godaddy.com. I signed up for hosting service at HostGator. Do I have to do this?
Do I have to transfer my primary domain from GoDaddy.com to Hostgator which cost me $15.00?
MY ICON IS UPSIDE DOWN says:
It’s ok (and common) to use 2 different companies, one for domain registration, and the other for hosting.
You have to log into the domain name account and “point” it to the hosting account.
There should be directions on both sites to explain this. It’s a bit confusing, but I did it once and it worked, so I bet you can figure it out too.

How To Transfer A Purchased Domain From GoDaddy To Hostgator?
I purchased a domain on GoDaddy but i want HostGator to host it. I purchased a hosting plan with HostGator and i login to their admin panel but im not sure where to start to move it over to HostGator from GoDaddy. Any ideas?
netdevour says:
You need to enter into GoDaddy’s domain manager – I am assuming you registered the domain with Go Daddy – and change the DNS to reflect Hostgator’s servers. You can get the correct DNS to enter from HostGator and there should be two DNS entries. Once you have the DNS from HostGator, go to the domain manager of GoDaddy and change the DNS. This will allow your domainname to point to HostGators servers…

How do you transfer a domain from godaddy.com to your hosting account?
I registered a domain on godaddy.com and now I want to build my website. My hosting account is hostgator.com. How do I officially make my new domain be hosted on my hostgator.com account? I can’t seem to find any info on this.

For Hosting & Domain
Actually, you can settle your domain point to your hosting /Folder directory and adjust DNS server IP address to your hosting account.
For Domain Transfer
Normally, you can find “Domain management” part of your hosting account at your hosting provider company site page. And then, select “domain transferring” tab to enter your domain name that you want to transfer. Meanwhile, you should go back GoDaddy to unlock your domain; also, you should follow some procedures as verify your authorization code with email confirm…etc. You have to wait 5 days after you complete all the step to submit transfer, finally, you domain transfer to the other hosting company.
However, you’d better consider of 2 things;
1. You have to view your domain contract period; if it gonna expires soon, that’s fine you can do it ASAP. Otherwise, you have to know your registration fee have no refund when you transferred your domain still in your contract period; you can do it if you didn’t care!
2. this is a real domain that you should pay the registration fee to the other domain company for holding your legal ownership permission. I saw hostgator doesn’t really has that, they just said “Domain transfer coming soon and Free?” at the home page. So you have to ask your hosting provider company and I don’t think is free but you might have discount for it!

I tried to transfer my domain to Godaddy inculding the EPP code, but it hasn’t worked. Help!!!!?
My domain name with Hostgator’s registrant has already expired, so I decided to transfer it to Godaddy. I went to Godaddy and transfer my domain name. Then as it is pending transfer, it ask me for transaction ID and security code. I contacted HostGator and they sent me the EPP Key Code for it. I tried putting it in both the Transaction ID and Security Code, but it didn’t worked. I have been wait for more than 10 days. Can you tell me what’s going on? I need it bad.

Your domain name cannot be transfer to another Registrant if it’s expired. You would need to renew the domain name subscription with your current registrant to make it active again. It must be active before it can be transferred to Godaddy. Furthermore, the EPP Key is the security code for Godaddy and the Transaction ID, I don’t know what that is. Someone else, please answer it for him. Thanks.

Is GoDaddy a good domain registrar?
I’ve heard it’s good, but has terrible Customer Service. If my domain is about to expire, will it handle this for me? Would you recommend GoDaddy? I’m thinking that maybe I should register with HostGator. Is GoDaddy only good for its speed? When the nameservers are transferred to HostGator, will HostGator handle the payments? Sorry, I’m new to this. x_x

I’ve got all of my domains (about 20) hosted with GoDaddy and don’t have any complaints at all. Super quick with customer service, both online or via telephone, and the interface is extremely easy to navigate.
You can set your account up to automatically renew at the end of your term – which GoDaddy will automatically bill to the credit card on file so you don’t have to worry about losing any of your names.
The reason you hear a lot of complaints about GoDaddy is the same reason you hear more complaints about Wal-Mart. It’s the tallest man on the totem pole. And when that happens, there’s going to be more buzz about you, good and bad. The fact is, more people are going to report about bad experiences they had with a company than good experiences.
The most famous case against GoDaddy that you’ll hear dredged up is one from 2006 where the owner of FamilyAlbum.com entered incorrect information into his domain when he was registering it (as someone has already pointed out here, that’s a standard practice of many people setting up illegal websites). It’s against ICANN compliance to do that, so GoDaddy attempted to contact him via email for two months, to no avail, after which they shut off the domain and put it up for sale again. Suddenly the guy came forward playing victim and blamed GoDaddy for the entire thing and accused them of ‘stealing’ his domain to sell it to another customer for a higher profit (which turned out to be a whopping $18 for a backorder). GoDaddy eventually settled the entire incident with both the new owner and the dufus that originally entered his information incorrectly – and gave him his domain back. But even then, they went above and beyond to make sure both customers were happy.

How to purchase a domain (with hosting) online, considering the fact that I have no credit card/paypal money?
Hi, and thank you for looking at my question.
Basically, I am looking to purchase a domain with hosting (online of course). The problem is, that I have no credit card (I am under 18 and don’t have parental consent) + the fact that I have $0.00 in my paypal (due to the foregoing reason). However, I really need to get a domain. Is there any possible way to raise just a little money into my paypal account without the use of credit card/bank transfer?
Or, by any little chance, would you kind souls like to invest in purchasing the domain for me(by transferring a little sum of money to my paypal)? I’m doing internet marketing with this domain I’m purchasing and am sure to rake in profits. Thus, be sure that I will return you the money lent with high interest on it. (please don’t mark this as a violation, I’m just highly desperate…)
My third question : What would be a good site to purchase domain and hosting? From several sources I see that GoDaddy is extremely popular… As well as HostGator. My personal choice in mind is JustHost.com, recommended by a friend. It offers hosting with free domain, at merely $2.95 per month. May I ask the opinion of you people, which is the best provider?
Thanks in advance
Just to add, I’m Singaporean (Asian if you’d prefer in general), and I think the culture of parenting here is much different compared to that of the west. Simply said, my parents are strict and all and they refer to what I’m doing as ‘a waste of time’ and they would ask me to go study every time I mention this. This is the reason why ‘I don’t have parental consent’. And I was wondering if I could send cash over snail-mail….
@Waco : I don’t have older friends.
@Waco : I don’t have older friends.
@Waco : Thats a great idea but I don’t have older friends. (sorry for multiple posts… i’ve no idea why either)
Black Sheep says:
not sure you can…
why won’t your parents consent? if it is that good of an idea, and sure to be so profitable, I don’t see why they wouldn’t consent… there are a lot worse things kids your age could be doing… unless this in itself is a scam?
I would bet you have $10.00, so get an older friend to use his credit card, and pay him in cash. or you could buy a visa gift card, that is a credit card, just only has the amount of money you put on the card as available funds.
I would recommend Godaddy.
