I've been with hostgator for 4 years since July, 2005. I think i have the qualifications to have a review about hostgator. In order to get the ball running, I want to say that Host Gator is the best Web Hosting i've been used.

I have been checking out Hostgator to host a wordpress blog or any website. I have checked into Yahoo as well as GoDaddy. I had GoDaddy at one time and could not figure it out for the life of me. I looked at the site builder on Hostgator and it was pretty user friendly, but I want to put google adsense and other affiliate links on my site. Can I even put java script or html on the site builders?
I checked out the CP portion with all of the specifics, but I do not understand what any of it means. I know a little about html, enough to make a website, but where would I put it? It mentioned something about Frontpage, but is it something I have to have already or does Hostgator come with it? Where do I put the code to actually make a site? What does all of this mumbo jumbo mean?

Firstly you create your page offline (not on the internet with frontpage with all the links so hyperlinking with just simple links lke home.html, also with frontpage you can add your jacvascript and ads ect… all while ur herer this is your setup stage. Secondly sign up with a free web host or paid one whichever your willing and then use thier CP upload featuere or use FTP to uplaod the files into that server. Make sure the main page is called index.html.
Then get the url that the free or paid webhost give you and type it in to ur URL and you should see yoru website

Has anyone used Spyder Site Builder. Thier Customer Support?
I am building my first website and have been checking out several webhosting sites that include webuilders. I signed up for hostgator but cannot seem to be able to get a site up and running there – it is too complicated for a novice like me. I have used the trial of Spyder Site Builder and it seems easy to use. But I would like to know if thier webhosting is up and running most of the time and how is thier customer service.

Hmm.. instead of shifting to a new host, I’d suggest that you stick to Hostgator and spend some more time with the site builder. You should be able to get the hang of it soon. These site builders are built to be usable by most of the public and that definitely includes novices. Maybe you could get a friend or a relative to look into it too. If you get stuck at some technical issue, remember that you can always contact Hostgator support and they might be able to help you out.
Of course, this is only a suggestion. I just wanted to tell you that you did a good thing by signing up with Hostgator instead of some very bad web host. I don’t know about the Spyder web hosting that you talk about, so I can’t give you the opinion on that one.

Take the coding for your Ads and place them in there own HTML page.
Next make an iframe. In all your pages… And add this at the bottom of every page.
Once you have done this, you can edit your ads without having to add the same Ads over and over again. What happens on your Ad page will happen on every add page.
Well heres what I would do. If you are not doing so already, than switch to PHP. It’s like HTML, but a little complex. But you don’t have to give up HTML, you can use HTML and PHP at the same time. Well… I can’t explain it in details here, because I am still learning PHP. But just know this, with PHP, you can change or add anything to ALL your web pages without having to edit them ALL. But you started a lot, a lot lately. So you probably won’t have to worry about this… it’s gonna be a bit tedious unless you decide to start over.

Ok. I signed up with hostgator.com but was very frustrated. The price was good, and it had good reviews, but certain things required html experience. If i chose a custom page i would have to know html to change its name from “custom page”, which i obviously didnt want, to something like “reviews.” Also, for the banner i would have to know html. I dont even need a banner, really, just a space for a logo.
I just want a page builder, no html, as simple as possible, but not boring either (though at this point boring would be ok, long as i can use it). IXwebhosting has the same site builder as host gator. I am now considering yahoo. I am willing to pay as much as twenty dollars a month, though i saw yahoo was cheaper than that. Hope someone can read all that and help me. Also, I want it to be reliable, price isnt a concern at this point, just tell me the site with the best templates and easy to use for someone who doesnt know html. Thanks in advance.

Yahoo! Geocities is probably the best one out if you don’t want to know HTML code. However, HTML is like the DNA of a site, you should familiarize yourself with it. It would be best to learn it so you can make really nice sites. If you completely prefer not to don’t worry you still can make good sites. Depending on how crazy you want of a site may mean it might cost a small sum. Marcomedia Flash is a great tool for website design, and you need to know almost no code at all. However it is very expensive, but you don’t need to know HTML. If you have a tight budget than you can always use a GIF animator, although its more a pain to make graphics with, it works.
